For IBCLCs

Add yourself, and your voice.

This is a register of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) in Ontario. You’re the one families are sent to when feeding gets hard, and the one who sees them through. Any IBCLC can join — practising, on leave or retired — it’s free, and it helps families and the people who refer them find you. We check that your certification is current before your listing goes up.

Why being counted helps

Every name counts.

IBCLCs are easier to support when people can see them. Right now nobody can say how many IBCLCs there are in Ontario, how many families they see between them, or where families are still waiting for help. Funders, policy makers and health partners want to support this work, and good numbers give them something to build on.

That’s why the register is more than a directory. Every IBCLC who joins adds to a shared picture of community lactation care in Ontario, one that midwives, nurses, public health teams and funders can use alongside us.

Who started this. This register was started by the founders of the Ontario Breastfeeding Clinic, a private IBCLC-led clinic. Their IBCLCs are listed, alongside everyone else who registers, alphabetically or in order of distance from a family.

Your registration

Thank you for being counted.

Joining is a way of advocating for yourself and for the families you serve, and it helps make community lactation care easier to see, fund and find. Write your listing in your own words, and we’ll email you when it goes up.

Never publishedRequired if you see families in their homes. We keep only the first three characters. That’s enough to match you with families nearby without pinpointing where you are.

Never publishedRequired if you see families at an office. Again, the first three characters are all we keep.

Never publishedThe register shows where a consultant can be seen in person, so a virtual-only practice is not listed on it. Tick this and we will keep your details anyway so we can keep you in the loop on the advocacy. Nothing of yours goes on the site.

Can you work to the full scope of the IBCLC? (optional)Never publishedNever published, and never shown beside your name. We ask because nobody has counted how much of this profession is working below what it trained for.

Your numbers for 2025

These numbers help make the case for funding community lactation care. Right now nobody can say how much care IBCLCs give across Ontario, and funders and policy makers need that picture to plan and pay for it. Your numbers, added to every other IBCLC’s, show the real size of the work. Every field is optional, and your best estimate is welcome.

Your numbers are never shown on your listing. They’re only shared as totals across the whole register, and only if you tick the box below. We’ll ask you to update them each January.

Never publishedCount each parent once, however many consults they had. Include prenatal clients.

What free means here

Free, and not a trial.

A register only means something if it’s close to complete. Charging at the door is the surest way to stop that happening, so we don’t.

  • Your listing, free. Your page, your credentials checked, and your place in the Finder for every area you serve.
  • Nobody buys position. Results are ordered by distance. There’s no paid placement to sell, because there’s no paid listing to begin with.
  • Kept current. We note when your certification expires and check it again when it comes due. Please let us know if you go on leave or retire.
